My favorite season has arrived, and although the weather is chilly, there are so many fun things to get out of the house and do with your family. Put on a sweater and head outdoors to take advantage of the beauty that fall has to offer!
Pumpkin Patch – Just because All Hallow’s Eve has come and gone, doesn’t mean you have to give up on pumpkins. Thanksgiving is just around the corner, so make a visit to your local pumpkin patch or festival. Enjoy activities like mazes, hay rides, pettings zoos and more. Don’t forget to grab a few pumpkins to decorate your front porch.
After you get back home, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate while you do a pumpkin patch craft together.
Hike – Pack some snacks and drinks and go for a walk or hike. Ask your children to collect their favorite leaves to paste in a nature journal.
Trade and Craft Show – Check your community’s calendar for trade and craft shows. Whether it’s a home improvement expo or a Festival of Trees, your children will enjoy walking (or strolling) through the exhibits and might pick up a few freebies and samples, too! You might discover the perfect Christmas gift to hide away for later.
Zoo – Most of us think of the zoo as a spring or summer diversion, but I love to bundle up on a crisp fall day and walk around the zoo with my children. Nobody is sweating buckets or asking for water constantly. If it’s chilly, you can always focus on indoor exhibits, and make a stop at the concession stand and souvenir shop. Check your local zoological park to see about seasonal events. In November, ours has a bug zoo tour, story time and an indoor rainforest feature. Whatever the season, a trip to the zoo is exciting and educational.
Honey Farm – Google honey producers in your area. I found three within 60 minutes of my home. Many bee farms offer educational tours, sampling and gift items. Most children are fascinated with insects; and what’s better than a bug that makes sweet treats?

Yes we have and overdue to get to the zoo again. Craft shows my kids love.
We have done all those activities except the Honey Farm. Our favorite time to goto the beach is in the fall – no crowds.
We have done all the activities listed, although it’s been a while because my kids are older. I’d love to visit a honey farm again.
We have gone to craft shows and to our local zoo.
❤️ going to the pumpkin patch! I’ll have to check out the honey farm idea! Another fall favorite is going to an apple orchard and picking apples & getting hot apple cider
I’ve done everything listed except the honey farm.
We have done all but the visit to a honey farm. That is an excellent idea. I know a place 5 Minutes from home that would probably show the kids around.
We have never been to a Honey Farm. And it looks like fun to go to. But we have been to the Zoo, and the Pumpkin Patch we love going to every year!
We have done all except honey farm, it sounds super fun!
I take my grandchildren for hayrides and to the zoo and they love it, all 9 of them.

Fall hikes are fun, the kids like to find pinecones and pretty leaves. We went to a zoo at night for their spooky themed nights in October. It was a chance to see nocturnal animals more active and you used flashlights to see them.
Oh boy, I hope our zoo puts something together like that for next year! I’m thinking that would also make a fun “date night.” ~Anne
fall is our favorite time of year! we often go hiking, and take trips to our local zoo. we also did the pumpkin farm this year, and my husbands sisters family keep their own bees!
as a kid, we usually went to pumpkin patches. As an adult, I was more likely to go to a nearby apple orchard where you could pick your own apples (or buy pre-picked if you’re lazy like me, lol.)
we’ve done a few of them and really enjoyed it. I esp like to hike
Craft shows are a big deal around here. We always go to a couple of them. I’ll have to see if there are any honey farms, that would be fun to take the kids to!
We love taking our little ones to the pumpkin patch!! I think it’s fun for all ages. 🙂
We’ve done corn mazes – so fun!
Those look like fun activities. My toddler is still in the breaking everything and running off phase so we have to wait until next year to do these type of activities.
I have done all of the activities mentioned in your blog post and I loved them all.
I have done everything except for Trade and Craft Show
Yes, we do a lot of hiking.
Never done the honey farm tour–very interesting!
we’ve done most of these activities except for the honey farm visit, thanks for the great idea, hopefully we can find one to visit when the weather warms up.
Yes!! All of the above! We are lucky enough to live in a small town that has all of these things pretty close by!! We have a local honey farm that we adore and a Zoo that we have a yearly pass to. We hike constantly and go to all the local craft fairs and events!
As a matter of fact we went to a craft show last Sunday. It was a lot of fun. I had to maintain my spending but I did get a little grizzly bear made out of cinnamon which makes the house smell so good and some fresh fudge. Honey Farm sounds fun!
It’s so hard not to spend to much a craft fair, with all the cute and beautiful handmade goods! ~Anne
Planning to do Honey Farm.. Lets go!!
I have done most of these activities with my family! I especially love going to the zoo and hiking!
We’ve gone to the zoo but don’t have any local honey farms that allow visits and very few craft shows in this area!
We have done all except honey farm.
We have done a lot of these things. Some of our favorites are the zoo, pumpkin patch, and hiking!
I get all my honey from a local honey farm.
Yes we have going to the zoo
We have done the fall pumpkin patch – always lots of fun!
thank you
Barbara Montag
I used to love going to the zoo when I was a kid!
Hiking is one of our favorite family activities!
We love visiting local farms and picking out our pumpkins every year.
