Indoor air quality is especially important these days because we spend a lot less time outdoors than our predecessors. This is even more true during winter, when we are frequently cooped up inside.
So here are five easy ways to improve the air quality in your home right now, as suggested by Duct-Rite Mechanical:
Indoor plants can remove pollutants from the air. Check the infographic below for some of the best!
Change your HVAC Filter
Mark your calendar to inspect the air filter in your HVAC system once a month. When you see dust, it’s time to change. Order filters in bulk so you’ll always have extras on hand.
Install an Air Cleaner
Did you know that a whole-home air cleaner can fit into the HVAC system and give the house additional filtration? You can choose from one of three technologies: HEPA, activated carbon or UV light.
In a well-sealed home, it’s important to actively add ventilation, so you’re not circulating stale air. Besides bringing in fresh air from the outside when you can, adding a mechanical ventilator is highly recommended. A qualified HVAC tech can easily add this to your heating and cooling system, but there are also separate ventilators you can install with low cost and effort.
Rearrange Your Furniture
The placement of furniture in your home could be blocking airflow in your home, causing stuffiness and the accumulation of more dust. See the infographic above for tips on how to fix these issues.
