The first time I saw a Funky Fluff diaper, the bright colors jumped out at me and really caught my eye. Talk about style! Our Fusion one-size diaper functions in three different ways – as a pocket, an AIO and an AI2. It also has some premium features like a waterproof strip of PUL on the inside waistband for extra protection against leaks, inner gussets sewn into the lining and dual pocket openings to make it easy for inserts to come out in the washing machine. The front opening can also be used to tuck inserts into if you don’t want to stuff them completely.
The Funky Fluff Fusion comes with two inserts: a 4-layer bamboo medium/large insert and then a 3-layer newborn/small. There is a crease on the large insert which makes it easier to fold down to get extra layers in the wet zone, and to make it fit in the shell when using the medium setting. Inserts can be snapped into the shell, stuffed in the pocket, or just laid in the diaper if you’re in a hurry.
And there’s something else very special about this diaper. Most pockets are lined with microfleece. But the Funky Fluff is made of natural bamboo. That means two things: (1) the lining itself serves as 1 extra layer of absorbency and (2) it’s great for babies with sensitivities to microfiber, microfleece, poly velour and other synthetic fabrics (Funky Fluff does offer a pocket diaper with a suedecloth, stay-dry lining if you prefer that).
I should mention two “cautionary” things about bamboo. Number one: it holds onto stains more easily than microfiber. Some mamas care a lot about getting rid of stains on diapers. For me, it’s not a big issue. Number two: bamboo must be thoroughly prepped before using or it will leak. Three or four washes won’t cut it. Think at least six…..eight is even better. So don’t get discouraged when a new bamboo diaper or insert leaks; keep washing that sucker! Bamboo is amazing, but it needs time to start working its magic.
I don’t always snap in the insert; it stays put if just laid in the diaper. But when I do snap it in, it stays attached even during the washing cycle, which is very handy. I don’t have to search through a pile of diapers and re-attach.
Now it’s time to see the Funky Fluff Fusion on some little bottoms!!
I was dying to try this on 1 month old Erik because Kathy at Funky Fluff told me that for a one-size diaper, the Fusion usually works fairly well for newborns. She was right! I snapped in the newborn insert and adjusted the rise to its very smallest setting. The crossover snaps on the waist hugged his little waist perfectly and kept the leg gussets nice and snug. A couple of weeks ago I posted about how the one-size diapers in our stash were too bulky for Erik; I’m SO thrilled to have actually found a pocket diaper that fits him AND my 25 pound toddler (see below)!
With Susanna I used the medium/large insert folded down at the crease and stuffed into the pocket. I only snapped down to the first row of rise snaps, which means this diaper has LOTS of room to grow – and she’s 18 months old and 25 pounds!
In my opinion, most of the pocket diapers we’ve tried don’t fit as well as our Funky Fluff does on all the different rise settings. It was just as snug and trim for Erik as it was for Susanna. I’m very impressed!

OMG these are adorable!!! So far it looks like my guy is going to be a smaller baby (we’re not very big people either!) so I’m building a newborn stash to start. I’m sure these will find themselves with me when he’s a little bigger! I love one-size, and this is just a major bonus that they work in so many ways!
I love that there is a crease in the insert to make it easier to fit in the diaper…. I hate when an insert is too long and doesn’t fit right….

I am new to cloth diapering so I would love to try these. It seems like these really have a wide range when it comes to fit which is great because I prefer one-size diapers that really will work just like that from birth to potty training and some just don’t. It also seems that these diapers have multiple features that make it different from the others (double gussets, etc.).

I was wondering how well these diapers fit on a newborn. The Funky Fluff Fusion Bamboo diapers are among my favorites! They are so easier to use and take care of. I have a majority of pocket diapers and SOMEONE in my family always forgets to remove the inserts before washing, but with Funky Fluff you don’t have to

I’m so excited! I’m 14 months into my first CD experience, but just found out I’m 8 weeks pregnant! Plenty more time to try new diapers and fall in love. I’ve made several of my CD and have just started using non PUL dipes for daytime playtime to air out the bum. These diapers look amazing and I can’t wait to try one. Now which color???
