It seems the more my skin stretches the more it itches. Just another one of my pregnancy woes. I find it’s worse by the end of the day; I start by scratching my tummy, and then the itch moves to my back and sometimes even to my legs and arms. I’ve tried a few lotions marketed for dry skin, but the relief just doesn’t last, which means I’m constantly reapplying…..and buying.
Enter Thincskin, which hails from beautiful Hawaii. Owner Malena has created a line of natural skincare products for the whole family and asked if I would like to try her “Mama Belly” balm for itchy skin. Where do I sign up?? Here’s what she sent, packaged in a classy recycled aluminum tin:
I opened the tin to find a sweet-smelling concoction with a light, whipped consistency. The product description says it “smells so good you’ll want to eat it,” and I’d have to concur. To me, the fragrance is almost like a tasty dessert. What’s inside? Oils and butters from Hawaii to soothe away dryness, and an herbal infusion to target the itching. In fact, the main ingredients come from a local Hawaiian grower. And it’s all organic: olive oil infused calendula, cocoa butter, shea butter, coconut oil, macadamia nut oil, corn starch, vitamin E T-50 & essential oils of orange & lavender.
Hint: Malena’s balm is for ANY type of itchy skin – so mama is not the only one who can get the benefits.
The Mama Belly balm goes on very smoothly and disappears completely into my skin. And then I smell wonderful! A little of this stuff goes a long way. It really doesn’t take much at all, which is great because I’m using it not just on my tummy. The itch relief is almost instant, and I don’t have to re-apply after an hour or two. Smooth it on in the afternoon and I’m good for the rest of the day and into the night. It’s great on dry feet and hands, too, so this is something I want to have on hand when winter arrives.
At just $14.95 for a 4 ounce tin, I think Mama Belly is well worth the money! It’s organic, it’s made from high-quality ingredients and for me, it WORKS.
